Every wedding is as different as the people who plan them. I have never been to a wedding that is even remotely similar to the others that I have had the pleasure of attending. Weddings are one of the most major events you will attend or plan in your lifetime, especially if you are a woman BUT not all women are the same, of course.
Some of the weddings trends that are being or will be favored in 2014 are:
1. Interactive/Thoughtful Favors
Monogrammed, personalized, items that guest will use again and again. Candles, drinks (in bottles or mason jars), sweets, coffee, teas and CDs were big items.
2. Outdoor Weddings
They are becoming more popular rapidly especially with more rural venues such as beaches, barns, country estates and such.
3. Creative Photography
When we pick a photographer the market is very competitive and of course we want someone who will capture every single moment of our special day. More photographers are taking advantage of somewhat staging photo sessions with everyone who attended you wedding usually between the ceremony and reception before you get your one and one time with the photographer. However, remember – do not rush. This is your day and you are paying someone (probably a decent amount of money) to capture what YOU want.
4. Pastel Colors
Believe it or not pastel colors are big this year. Pale pinks, yellows, blues, mint greens. This more subtle and gentle approach to color scheme can be mixed and matched with something bolder if you wish.
5. Rustic Bling
Rustic Bling is another big trend for 2014 mixing woodland hues with the glitter and sparkles that every girl loves. This is includes vintage, beaded lace, burlap and lace…these are all coming back with a vengeance in the wedding world and why not? They are classic.
6. Creativity in Words
The use of caligraphy is now being used beyond the invitations. It is being used by the tables, the photo booths, the dance floor and so much more. Have fun with it.
7. Stations
These are HUGE this year. Tables in certain locations that keep guests entertained and leaving with a little extra. Your stations can be made up of candy for the kids (and adults), cigar stations for the men at the reception, photo booth station with props, smores station, ice cream station, games station to kill time and keep guest entertained while you and your better half are off taking pictures, getting a breather and so on. Drinks stations are a big hit especially if you do not have a caterer…they can come in the form of flavored lemonades to sangrias. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this trend.
As you look and consider all of the trends for this year and maybe even think about using them in your wedding plans, remember that this is your day and to do what makes you happy. Seek the advice and help of a wedding planner or even make your friends your wedding planning assistants. Have fun and congratulations on a new chapter in your life.
