Your wedding. One of the biggest and most important days of your life. That sentence alone can bring on stress and anxiety. You have guests to feed and keep happy, a spouse to marry, legal paperwork to take care of, pictures to take, bridesmaids to keep in line, a budget to keep to, the list goes on and on. So should you try to save a few bucks and take it all on yourself or hire a professional planner to do it all for you? This article will help you decide.
If any of you are anything like me, I am a control freak! I feel the need to do everything myself because I feel like it will be done correctly. I have been proven wrong many a time, so I wasn’t surprised, even though I was still hesitant, that a wedding planner could do what I envisioned but even better. Some of the ideas sucked…others were amazing. Hiring a professional involves a lot of brainstorming and bouncing ideas off one another.
Here are some reasons that you should definitely consider hiring a wedding planner.
Wedding planners have so many contacts and networks that will trump your Google search any day of the week.
Wedding planners are also designers so they are up to date on the latest trends, keeping in mind what is classic so you can get the perfect balance of what it is you are looking for. They also may have unique ideas to make the day special like a butterfly release or a make-it-yourself confetti bar.
A wedding planner will act as if she is your best friend, but be brutally honest to you. You groom-to-be may agree with every choice that you make because he wants to you shut up or be happy. A wedding planner will give her honest opinion that the bright neon pink favors you just picked out will not go with your green-earthy theme.
Tasks that you may not enjoy doing, you can send someone else who actually enjoys it to go handle it. They didn’t choose to be a wedding planner just because they enjoy wedding dresses. No, they enjoy creating seating charts, itineraries, budget spreadsheets and all those task that we as brides-to-be dread.
5. Sit back and relax.
On the big day, you do not have to be the one running around wondering where a bridesmaid ran off to, if your cake is running late or if family just flew in from out of town and they weren’t on the seating chart. Wouldn’t it be nice to just sit back and be able to say “Don’t worry, the planner has got it under control?”
Your wedding should bring you happiness and be a celebration of the life time of love you are lucky enough to have found. You don’t want to be running around stressed, confused, or unsure of what to do. You also don’t want to turn into a bridezilla and potentially scare off your beau to be. So sit down and really think about whether saving money is worth dealing with all of the problems that can arise around planning and executing the perfect wedding. Remember this is their job and your day – enjoy it!
